Since I launched this wedding photography website a year of so ago, replacing an older one, I’m still catching up with posting some of my older weddings, so here I am looking back at the summer of 2014.
Irrespective of years there are some weddings that come along in amazing locations with lots of things going on, that it makes your job as a wedding photographer so fun and enjoyable, you start to wonder if it’s really a job at all. Alex and Woody’s (Peter) Oxfordshire wedding was one such wedding.
Set in the heart of rural Oxfordshire in the historic church of St Laurence in Warborough – a village used as an idylic location in the hugely popular TV series Midsommer Murders (one of the most dangerous and deadly places in the entire world if you believe the TV show! Though I’m happy to report there were no such problems on the wedding day itself!) – it had all the makings of a classic and timeless English rural wedding – but one that came with a few modern and contemporary twists – all very ideal for wedding journalism approach documenting the story of the day!
For example, it’s not everyday that a bride and groom head from the church to the wedding reception in a helicopter is it? But after the wedding ceremony that’s exactly what Alex and Woody did – the helicopter taking them from the Warborough cricket pitch the short distance to the nearby Frilford Heath Golf Club, just south of Oxford itself, which was hosting the wedding reception. With guests waving them off, it made for some wonderful moments and emotions for my wedding photojournalism to capture.
It’s fair to say that being set in 500 acres of glorious and undulating heathland, Frilford Heath is one of the best wedding venues in Oxfordshire. It’s definitely a stunning backdrop for wedding photography. After the emotional and often tearjerking wedding speeches and toasts, a tethered hot air balloon was laid on for guests to go up and enjoy some sensational views of the surrounding Oxfordshire countryside at dusk. It goes without saying it was another fantastic opportunity, as a wedding photographer, to document some perfect moments and amusing emotions!
The evening entertainment was as fun as the wedding day itself and again made for some fabulous shots of bride, groom and guests dancing the night away! I’m sure you’ll agree, from the small selection of wedding photography displayed below, that Alex and Woody had the most amazing wedding day in the heart of beautiful Oxordshire.
