Even though I am a London wedding photographer, I am always thrilled to shoot weddings elsewhere in the UK. So when Kara and Jason asked me to be their Rowton Castle wedding photographer in Shropshire I absolutely jumped at the chance. Especially as they wanted a documentary wedding photographer for their big day.
A Rowton Castle Wedding
Rowton Castle, near Shrewsbury in Shropshire, is a stunning wedding venue. Set within 17 acres of beautiful grounds and over 800 years old you cannot be anything else but wowed by such a location. You can see why it is definitely one of the best wedding venues in Shropshire. Whilst this was my first time photographing at the venue, I did later return and shoot Maria and Peter’s wedding there.
Rowton Castle Wedding Preparations
Come the day itself and it was a stunning summer’s day. My day started by photographing the bridal preparations in the delightful bridal suite in Rowton Castle. As a documentary wedding photographer I absolutely love this part of the day. There are so many real moments, genuine emotions, laughs, excitement and, yes, even the odd tear or two. It’s documenting these small little slices of real life that adds to a couple’s unique wedding story.
Wedding Ceremony in the Cardeston Suite.
The wedding ceremony was set within the impressive Georgian styled Cardeston Suite . The bride and groom looked simply stunning which always makes my life, as a wedding photographer, so much easier. The grounds then provided a befitting backdrop to the post ceremony drinks and music on the lawn – once again providing so many moments and emotions to capture within my documentary wedding photography approach.
Last Dances, First Dances & The Wedding Singer
The evening reception saw the bride take to the floor with her father, for a last dance, before she was then handed over to the groom for their moving and emotional first dance together – all to the wonderful bluesy-jazzy lounge vibe of the beautiful wedding singer.
